Why Do People Love Lake & Boat Life
I was going to do a blog post on why people love boat life and another on why people love lake life, but honestly, I think they go hand in hand.
I love both boat and lake life. They give me a feeling of peace, relaxation, and freedom. To sit on a boat and feel the gentle rocking is one of the best feelings. It's the feeling of being on vacation. Looking out at the water gives me a sense of grace and purpose. Those are my main reasons for coming to the lake.
Of course, there are plenty of other reasons people come to the lake and enjoy boat and lake life.
1. Water Activities
Some people come for the water activities—water skiing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, tubing. That's where they find their fun and joy in lake and boat life.
2. Family Time
Some people come for family time at a park or recreation area. There's so much joy and anticipation not only on the kids' faces but on the parents' faces as well. They pull up, unload the car, and head to their favorite spot at one of the parks on the lake.
3. The Nightlife
Yes, boating has a nightlife, too. It's not for everyone, but it's like a club on the water. Music is coming from the docked boats, people are going from boat to boat, and everyone is enjoying the fun, social atmosphere.
4. The Food
Some people come to enjoy the food at their favorite marina restaurant. Most marinas here on Lake Lanier have restaurants, and on a nice warm summer night—and well into the fall—they stay busy. They're located at different marinas, and most offer beautiful water views. Since I like to cook, we don't visit the restaurants very often.
5. Chasing the Sunset
Some people just want to stay on the lake all day until sunset. Being on the water all day is their mission, and they enjoy every minute of it.
6. Camping
Some people come to go camping. I can't speak for other lakes, but Lake Lanier has multiple campgrounds. You can bring your own tent, go glamping, or camp with your RV.
7. Fishing
Some people come for one goal only, and that's to catch the big one. Most fishermen are out here early in the morning and gone before noon. Their goal is to get on the water while it's calm, still, and quiet, and hopefully catch the fish they'll be talking about for years to come. It can be hard to catch the big one once all the boats hit the water and the lake gets noisy.
Whatever your reason for coming to the lake and enjoying boat and lake life, I hope this gave you a few ideas and maybe even inspired you to try something new.
After all, there are so many ways to enjoy life at the lake—you just have to find the one that makes you happiest. 🌊⚓☀️🚤
