A Weekend in Our Lake Life
We normally get to the lake on Saturday morning, although sometimes we'll head up on Friday evening after work.
I usually do my grocery shopping and meal prep before we get there. When we arrive, I put all the groceries away, clean the bathrooms, and wipe down the kitchen. We haven't been there all week, so I never know what may have been lurking around in our absence. Hopefully, nothing!
Once I complete all of that, IT'S TIME TO RELAX!!
We sometimes walk down the dock and check on our boat neighbors, seeing how everyone's week has been and what their plans are for the next couple of days. Meanwhile, my husband gets his fishing rods ready and puts his lines in the water.
We do enjoy company, although sometimes I enjoy the peace and quiet of having no company at all. I'm not much of a social butterfly; I enjoy spending time alone when we're at the lake. On the other hand, my husband enjoys talking to everyone.
Our oldest son has a fishing boat and is usually at the lake every weekend. Fishing is his passion. That's another reason I love this lifestyle so much—we get the opportunity to spend more time with our kids while doing something we all enjoy.
Nothing is better than waking up at the lake.
I enjoy it so much because it's truly good for the soul. Getting up early with a cup of coffee and watching the sun come up is so peaceful and relaxing. What a time! What a life! God is good! He has allowed me to experience this lifestyle, and I want to share it with as many people as possible.
Okay, back to what we do...
After breakfast, we sometimes take a cruise on the water, or we simply spend our weekend at the dock. It all depends on how we're feeling. We don't always have a plan—we just enjoy being there.
If we have company, I prepare food and have everything ready when everyone arrives. We eat, play games, listen to music, and enjoy each other's company. Later in the day, we may take our guests out for a boat ride.
We might visit one of the marina restaurants, head over to Margaritaville, or spend time at one of the many islands scattered throughout Lake Lanier.

Although we're at the lake, we actually spend most of our time at the dock. Many people assume that when you go to the lake, you're out on the water all day long, but it's so much more than that.
Lake life is about slowing down, spending time with family and friends, enjoying nature, and creating memories.
Through this blog, I hope to encourage and inspire others to get out, experience lake life, and discover all that it has to offer.
